Scenic Inspiring Trail Running
Weald Challenge Trail Races - Volunteers
The feedback we received following the Weald Challenge Trail Races particulary highlighted the tremendous input from the volunteers that helped make the event run so smoothly.
The Weald Challenge Trail Races are put on in conjunction with Uckfield Runners, therefore many of the volunteers are members of Uckfield Runners. However, to put on the Weald Challenge Trail Races assistance from other volunteers is really appreciated, especially by the runners, to ensure everything is pretty well perfect on the day.
Do you have friends or family running in the Weald Challenge Trail Races and you want to support them on the day? Then volunteering enables you to support all of the runners and is a great way to give something back to the running community.
Are you in training for a different trail run and perhaps want to to experience the course without the pressure of racing. Then volunteering as a course sweeper or a course marker is a great opportunity to get a few gentle miles in along some scenic trails.
Or you just want to be involved with a trail running event? Whatever your particular situation we would much welcome your involvement with the Weald Challenge Trail Races.
What Do You Get In Return For Volunteering?
In return for volunteering, in addition to having an enjoyable and rewarding day supporting others and receiving their gratitude, we will provide you with two free entries to the High Weald Challenge Trail Races that tales place in September, or two free entries to the following year's Weald Challenge Trail Races. All volunteers will also receive a bespoke Weald Challenge event handmade coffee mug.
What Will You Be Doing?
There are a variety of different volunteer roles. On race day we require volunteers at the race headquarters where the races start/finish, and race registration, post race relaxing and refreshment, prizegiving, all take place. Roles include assisting with the race registration, coffee/cake provision, giving out finisher medals and coffee cups, baggage area supervision, etc. We also require volunteers at the four checkpoint/feed stations out on the route. This involves setting up the station, getting the food and drink ready, recording runner race numbers, and of course cheering on the runners.
For those volunteers that wish to get a few miles under their belt, on race day we require course sweepers to run along the course to collect in the route markings. On the Friday afternoon and the Saturday before the Sunday race day, we also require course markers to help mark out the route.
