Trail Running Sussex offer guided runs along the scenic inspiring trails within the county of Sussex for all abilities. Please note that unfortuantely we are unable to offer Guided Runs at the moment (October 2016). We will update this webpage when we are able to provide them again.

A weekend running break is a great opportunity to enjoy the countryside with all the running and accommodation arrangements taken care of. Stuart Mills, who simply loves running the trails, will guide you on trail runs of your preference. No matter the extent of your trail running experiences, Stuart will ensure your journey through the countryside matches your desires. Whether you prefer hills, forests or historic landmarks; at a relaxed pace with frequent breaks, or a more strenuous challenging run, Stuart will be able to accommodate your needs.

The weekend running break guided runs totally respond to the needs of the runner, and can range from just one run of say around an hour on either Friday late afternoon/evening, Saturday or Sunday, right up to a running weekend consisting of up to two hours on the Friday late afternoon/evening, up to six hours on the Saturday, and up to two and a half hours on the Sunday morning.  We run at whatever pace you enjoy running at, and over whatever terrain you prefer, whether flattish or undulating/hilly, open fields or woods, narrower trails. There is never any sense of 'pressure' to run further or faster.

Some runners just like to enjoy the fantastic countryside of East Sussex.  Other like to ask Stuart Mills, who leads the runs, loads of questions about his ideas on trail-running and what contributes to performance in trail marathons and ultra trail events, as Stuart has vast experience of trail-running and racing.

A typical weekend could consist of arriving Friday afternoon / early evening (pick up from local train stations Uckfield or Lewes available). The first of the weekend's three runs will stay local, typically departing from your B&B unless you have a specific short run request e.g. Pooh Bridge, or Long Man of Wilmington.

The length of the runs will be up to you to decide, taking into account the total duration you wish to cover over the whole weekend. The running break could be a great opportunity to challenge yourself, to run that little bit further than you would typically manage on your own.

The evenings are set aside for relaxing and your own preference of cuisine. There is a wide range of pubs and restaurants within close proximity, including a village pub within walking distance, or the town/city atmosphere of Brighton, Eastbourne or Tunbridge Wells, all within around a 30 minute drive.

Saturday morning following breakfast, we would leave the B&B to drive to the area of your choice, e.g. Ashdown Forest, Seven Sisters, South Downs Way, Wealdway. The run would either consist of a looped route, or a point to point journey involving an arranged pick-up or return via bus/train. Often the run finishes at a cafe, or if a particularly longer run, the run could include a visit to a cafe part-way through. The Sunday run, the third run of the weekend, is shorter than Saturday's long run, and can commence either following or prior to breakfast.
